Red Russian kale produces upright plants with tender, lightly savoyed leaves and colourful stems. The foliage becomes increasingly purple as it matures and develops stronger red colouring after exposure to frost.

Its mild, slightly sweet flavour makes young leaves useful in salads and microgreen mixes. Larger leaves are well suited to steaming, sautés, soups and other cooked dishes.

This cool-season variety has useful frost tolerance and can extend production into late fall under protection. Grown and selected by Eastport Organics in coastal Newfoundland.
